MADISON, Wis. -- CUNA announced two new board members who will take office at the close of the group's Governmental Affairs Conference in the spring.
USA Federal Credit Union President/CEO Mary Cunningham will represent District 6, mid-size credit unions, while Discover Federal Credit Union President/CEO Edwin L. Williams will represent CUNA's District 1 in the smallest asset category. Both ran unopposed. They will begin their terms March 3, 2008.
Five incumbents ran unopposed for re-election:
-District 1, Class D: Association of Vermont Credit Unions President Joseph G. Bergeron;
-District 2, Class B: Cincinnati Central CU President/CEO William A. Herring;
-District 2, Class D: Ohio Credit Union System President Paul L. Mercer;
-District 4, Class A: Point Plus CU President/CEO Pat Wesenberg; and
-District 5, Class C: GECU CEO Harriet May.
Voting will close on Dec. 14 for other positions. Running to represent the largest credit unions in district 3, Class C are Suncoast Schools FCU President/CEO Tom Dorety and SRP FCU Chairman Bruce Burns. Whoever wins the seat will serve a three-year term beginning March 3, 2008.
Four candidates--American Southwest CU President/CEO Brian Barkdull, Railway CU President Paul Brucker, Guadalupe CU president/CEO Winona Nava, and Trona Valley FCU President Marsha Tynsky--are running in a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Mary Shipe, president of Alhambra Credit Union, who has resigned effective Dec. 31. The winner will take office Jan. 1 with the term expiring in 2009.
