ROCKVILLE, Md. — The legal fight between the $295 million Lafayette Federal Credit Union and its former CEO and his son may take even longer to resolve after the Judge in the case appointed an outside party to referee ongoing disputes about discovery.

Lawyers for the credit union, William Brooks and William Brooks Jr. have been struggling over jurisdiction, scheduling and confidentiality issues regarding depositions in the case. As a way of moving forward Judge Terence McGann has ordered a discovery master to resolve remaining discovery disputes, according to lawyers for the credit union. This pushed back the November 13 deadline for having completed discovery until a future date to be determined.

Lawyers for the Brooks have not yet commented on the court's decision.
