HORRY COUNTY, S.C. -- Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union's International Credit Union Day celebration literally went to the dogs.
Carolina Trust invited animal lovers to bring their pets to the Myrtle Beach branch for a free microchip ID tag. The Grand Strand Humane Society was on hand to administer the ID tags to dogs and cats compliments of Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union.
Approximately 60 pets, mostly dogs, received free microchip ID tags. The Grand Strand Humane Society received $400 in donations from appreciative pet owners and an extra $250 donation from Carolina Trust.
In addition, Shred Alert was on location at the Carolina Trust Conway and Surfside Beach branches to destroy the public's unwanted personal documents free of charge. The goal was to remind the public to protect their identities.
In Florence County, the credit union's Lake City and Johnsonville branches partnered with the Pee Dee Division of the American Red Cross to give the gift of life and collect comfort kit item donations for their Disaster Services Team.
After fires and other disasters, many people do not have necessary items, such as soap, shampoo, or toothpaste. The American Red Cross' Disaster Services Team is on the scene to provide a place to stay and comfort kits. In addition to the comfort kit items and money donated by members at the Johnsonville branch, Carolina Trust made an additional $500 donation to assist in their disaster recovery efforts.
ICU Day branch events were promoted via radio commercials, newspaper ads, public service announcements, in-branch advertisements, and member newsletter articles.
