DALLAS — Twenty five Texas economics teachers have more information to teach their students about financial education thanks to grants totaling $10,000 from the Texas Credit Union Foundation.

The grants provided assistance for teachers to attend the National Council on Economic Education's Annual Conference earlier this month in Denver. Developed in partnership with the Texas Council on Economic Education, one of TCUF's key statewide partners in promoting financial education in the schools, the grants were based on each recipient's demonstrated need, as well as being a member of a credit union.

"Many of the teachers have very limited budgets that would have prevented them from attending this conference," said Jill Pharr, TCUF executive director. "We felt it was important to assist them in attending. We also wanted to strengthen the bond between the teachers and their credit unions, so the scholarship program was open only to teachers who are credit union members."
