ASHEVILLE, N.C. — With a few blisters along with sore knees and feet, 12 credit union runners known as "Team Little Guy" and borrowing its name from the CUNA ad campaign, completed a rugged 208-mile relay mountain race over the weekend in 30 hours and 15 minutes.
"We did pretty well but I do have two foot blisters and three blackened toes," declared Esteve Coll-Larossa, marketing manager at United Services Credit Union of Asheville and one of the runners.
An estimated $70,000 has been raised so far from CUs in the charity race that benefits the Micro Community Grants program run by the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, an affiliate of the North and South Carolina Credit Union Leagues.

The 12 runners, including a contingent of league staffers, took part in the annual Blue Ridge Relay Race, which over two days traversed mountain terrain in Virginia and North Carolina ending in downtown Asheville.
There were some 47 Virginia/North Carolina corporate teams participating "and I think our time was just in the middle," said Coll-Larosa.
