COLUMBIA, Md. — Maryland & District of Columbia Credit UnionAssociation CEO Mike Beall recently announced some clarification ofsenior staff duties to help focus the organization on its fourprime areas of focus: advocacy, services, membership andfinance.

“We're at a pretty crucial place where credit unions are rightnow and I think this is going to help me get out in credit unions,”he said. With the merger of the Maryland and D.C. leaguessuccessfully completed, Beall hopes to get more into the communityand help drum up membership and get them excited about what theassociation is doing, particularly along the veins of financialliteracy, anti-predatory lending, and
promoting credit unions as a financial services alternative.

Accordingly, Beall has named a senior management team with oneperson overseeing each of the key areas.

Jennifer Porter Gore will head up MDDCCUA's advocacy team aschief advocacy officer; she only recently joined the associationbut has years of experience on Capitol Hill and at CUNA. MaureenMcAtee has been tapped as vice president of state legislative andpublic affairs and will continue expanding MDDCCUA's financialliteracy efforts and other initiatives. Kirk Fox as vice presidentfor regulatory affairs. Sarah Turner will report to McAtee as thenew director of public affairs and will edit MDDCCUA's FOCUSe-newsletter. Director of Compliance Andr?(C) Lucas will continuein hiscurrent role answering compliance queries.

Paul Rosenberger will serve as chief services officer, headingup the business services unit. Beall emphasized that the MDDCCUAoffered more than 80 in-person training classes that have educatedabout 1,800 credit union people last year. This was just one of thereasons he creditedwith boosting state affiliation numbers.

Martha Ninichuk is the new vice president of credit unionconsulting, supervising Director of Training Mary Ann Caskey andDirector of Consulting Dawn Johnson.

To help continue to grow membership, Jennifer Simmons has beennamed chief membership officer. “Affiliation has been on the riseand we are hoping to rise from 80% to 90% over the next threeyears,” Beall explained. He credits the merger, refreshing ofofferings, and “hustle” for increasing interest.

Ruth Ann White, who has been on staff since the early 1980s, isthe chief financial officer.
