WASHINGTON — After 16 months as CUNA's vice president of legislative affairs, Dean Sagar will be leaving the organization at the end of August.
Prior to joining CUNA's staff, Sagar served on the House Financial Services Committee staff under Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.).
"Dean is leaving on good terms with CUNA and with very positive feelings about credit unions and the members we serve. As you know he joined CUNA from the House Financial Services Committee and we have benefited from his knowledge and expertise," CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica commented.

"His move to CUNA came quickly and, having now been here for over a year, Dean feels he would like to take time on his own to more fully assess how he will be most fulfilled using his extensive Hill experience as well as time to address some family matters that have arisen following the recent passing of his mother."
Mica stated that CUNA Senior Vice President of Legislative Affairs John Magill has already begun work on finding a successor and has "several very strong candidates in mind."
Magill and Sagar replaced former CUNA Senior Vice President of Legislative Affairs John McKechnie and former Vice President of Legislative Affairs Gary Kohn, respectively, who are now both at NCUA.
