SALT LAKE CITY — It is easy to forget what an important role credit unions play in helping others, but members are always there to remind us.
Five years ago Mountain America Credit Union Logan Branch Manager Alice Ostermiller helped Major Ken Thompson with an auto loan.
Major Thompson is an Apache Attack Helicopter pilot and has been stationed at various locations around the world during the past five years. Ostermiller has been able to help him with another five loans since then, no matter where he was stationed.

Recently, he invited Ostermiller and her staff to get an upclose look at his helicopter. Thompson and his squadron flew through Salt Lake and into the Logan Cache airport, where the Logan branch employees met him.
He took the opportunity to present Ostermiller with a special medallion to thank her for helping him through the years.
"It will be something I will always cherish because of my friendship with Ken and his family," said Ostermiller.
