WASHINGTON — In an effort today to grab the attention of Capitol Hill staffers and members of Congress prior to the month-long August recess, CUNA brought a banker to Washington.
As one might guess, it was more of a satire. CUNA hired an actor who greeted commuters as they exited the Capitol South metro station during the morning rush hour. He stood before a 'big bank' background and shouted, "Up with profit, down with people." Large bills were dripping out of every pocket and he fanned himself in the sticky Washington, D.C. heat with stacks of cash in his hands.
The banker would ask passersby if they needed a loan. If someone replied yes, then he told them they could not get one from him if they actually needed a loan–he did not serve the "Little Guy."

A few paces up the street toward the Capitol, credit union supporters were handing out lollipops to go with their "Don't Get Suckered" t-shirts.
CUNA is also distributing banker/Little Guy cartoons via e-mail throughout the week to legislators' offices.
