COLUMBIA, Md. — The Maryland & District of Columbia Credit Union Association recently hosted a "Day of Orientation" for the African-American Credit Union Coalition's internship program.
The day began with Jennifer Gore, MDDCCUA vice president of federal and District of Columbia governmental affairs, giving a lesson on the history of the credit movement. Dawn Johnson, manager of business services, conducted a lively discussion on dress code, according to the association.
The AACUC's internship program pairs more than 35 college juniors and seniors with credit unions, leagues, Fannie Mae, trade groups and other entities in the industry for a 8-10 week summer learning experience.

Since the program launched several years ago more than 250 college students have gone through AACUC's internship program and nearly 30 interns have secured full-time positions within the credit union industry including at Navy FCU, Houston Municipal CU, State Employees CU of Maryland, Georgia Power CU, Aberdeen Proving Ground FCU, New York-based Municipal CU and Atlanta City Employees CU.
