ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Navy Federal Credit Union has teamed up with local ABC 7 and other area businesses in giving the Naval Academy Primary School a much-needed makeover.
Over 170 Navy Federal staffers have volunteered to paint the entire interior of the historic schoolhouse, which was selected as the first project for ABC 7′s new program Built Upon A Dream.
Based on the popular Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Built Upon A Dream gives a facility makeover to local nonprofit organizations that need it most.

The Naval Academy Primary School has a 100-year old proud tradition of serving military families and faculty and staff of the United States Naval Academy. Today NAPS continues to provide an affordable, quality education to children from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
After being housed in several locations on the Naval Academy grounds, NAPS now resides in the building located just off the USNA golf course where they have remained for the past 57 years.
The school house that previously served as a Bachelor's Officers Quarters is in need of a great deal of renovation and repair, with the project involving more than 20 different makeover sites on the old schoolhouse. Everything from landscaping, to plumbing, painting, flooring, bathrooms and lighting will be improved.
The Built Upon a Dream Team includes General Contractor, MacKenzie Contracting Company, Homestead Gardens, K.Hovnanian Homes, M.C. Dean, Fence & Deck Connection, L.H. Cranston, and Navy Federal Credit Union as well as a number of sub-contractors and suppliers. The team will work through the end of the summer to be completed in time for the August back to school re-opening.
So far the project has received more than $150,000 in goods, services and donations.
