GREENVILLE, S.C. -- For SC Telco Federal Credit Union VicePresident of Administration Patti Seymore every piece of furniturehas a story to tell it is just a matter of coaxing it out.

"I just love the adventure of discovering what is hiddenunderneath", said Seymore of her refinishing projects.

Her refinishing of furniture began as a lark, when she neededsome furniture and found an old chiffonier at her parents' housethat had been painted.

"When I stripped off that paint and found this beautiful woodunderneath, I re-stained it and it was truly just a gorgeous pieceof furniture after that it became my fascination," saidSeymore.

Since then she's breathed life back into a dozen or so piecesshe received from both sets of grandparents and has even helped hermother refinish her kitchen cabinets.

"Two of my favorites projects are a vintage RCA radio that wasantiqued white and a desk that had been painted green that camefrom my maternal grandmother when she downsized her home," saidSeymore. "Once I completed the work on the furniture she justlaughed and said she didn't know what she was thinking when shedecided to paint over them. It made me feel good that she likedthem being restored to their original state."

Working in her garage, it can take a month or so to refinish apiece of furniture depending how intricate the wood design is.Adding that since she is self taught it is still a lot of trial anderror and learning as she goes, but Seymore says that is all partof the joy of discovery.
