Gainesville Regional Utilities and 1st Credit Union of Gainesville are making it easier for area homeowners to go green.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gainesville Regional Utilities and 1st Credit Union of Gainesville are making it easier for area homeowners to go green.

With the new GRU Low Interest Energy Efficient loan, residential electric customers can now make energy efficient improvements to their homes.

The five-year, $1,000 to $10,000 loans with a 3% APR can be used to purchase everything from ENERGY STAR appliances and high efficiency central air conditioning systems to solar electric photovoltaic systems.

To apply for the loan, residents can either stop by a 1st Credit Union branch, the GRU administrative building or visit the GRU Web site at www.gru.com.
