SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Redwood Credit Union is a sponsor of the City of Santa Rosa's "Peanuts on Parade" program, honoring the work and contributions of longtime Santa Rosa resident Charles M. Schulz.

The 3rd and final year of the program features nearly 100 uniquely decorated Snoopy statues on display throughout the city of Santa Rosa, California, from May through September 2007, including one sponsored and painted by Redwood CU.

The Snoopy statue, stationed in front RCU's new Corporate Facility joins a Charlie Brown and a Woodstock statue from the previous two years of the program.

"Redwood Credit Union is proud to have participated in all three years of this wonderful tribute to Charles Schulz, and we are excited to display our 'Joe Cool' Snoopy at the entrance to our new Corporate Facility," said RCU President/CEO Brett Martinez. "This is just one of the ways Redwood Credit Union demonstrates our commitment to the communities we serve."

While many of the participating sponsors engaged the services of local artists to design and decorate their statues, RCU held a design contest among its employees each year.

The winning design for 2007, submitted by the Credit Union's Cleveland Avenue branch staff, is titled "Stay Cool Snoopy," and features Snoopy in a Hawaiian shirt and tie, wearing novelty sunglasses and holding an icy glass of lemonade. The philosophy behind the whimsical design incorporates the credit union staff's desire to work hard and play hard, and a beach ball at the base of the statue include the words "Grow," "Dream," and "Achieve," which reinforces RCU's commitment to helping members achieve their financial goals and dreams.

A team of seven RCU staffers worked to bring the design to fruition at a "paint off" event held the third weekend in May at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Festivities surrounding the Snoopy statues are planned throughout the summer.
