Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif., recently donated $10,000 to the Fisher House at Travis Air Force Base. The donation will assist families while a service member is hospitalized at the David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base. Fisher House Assistant Manager Jane Hassanieh said donations help keep military members and their families comfortable.
To honor outgoing Board Chairman Robert L. Hamilton, Orlando Federal Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., donated a golf cart to residents of the Russell Home for Atypical Children. This organization is a home to children who require specialized care around the clock. The Russell Home does this without Government Funding and continues through donations and volunteers like Hamilton and his wife. The golf cart is used by residents for transportation on their property and outings to a nearby park and lake.
The Credit Union Executives Society, Madison, Wis., contributed $5,000 in scholarships to five students who are members of the Greater Warren Community Federal Credit Union, Warren, Ohio. The donation was made in honor of former board member Mickey Wilson, CCUE, who served on the CUES board from 1998-2006, acting as chairman from 2005-2006. Jenna Rose, Erin Shea, Chandra Tipton, Jasmine Trimble and Mario Marini each received a $1,000 scholarship. All five are children of Greater Warren Community FCU employees.
