BURNSVILLE, Minn. — US Federal Credit Union packed on the pounds for Minnesota FoodShare.
Playing off the reality show "The Biggest Loser," the credit union took a new twist by persuading its "Biggest fundRAISER contestants" to reach for a weighty outcome by donating pounds of food and monetary gifts.
USFCU ended up collecting a total of 12,579.93 dollars/pounds of food with the final scale reading displaying $9,821.93 raised and 2,758 pounds of food, causing the dial to surpass this year's already boosted target of 7,000 pounds/dollars and raising a US Federal record.

The USFCU Minnesota FoodShare committee–a collaboration of the marketing, human resources and facilities departments–hosted a variety of events to raise money and collect food. Such events included a Kick Off Breakfast, Casual for a Cause Fridays, an NCAA bracket pool, the "Little Italian Bistro" luncheon, employee-branded water bottle sales, a gift basket silent auction, branch competition, scavenger hunts, chair massages and a first ever "Mystery Mug" game. These and additional branch location efforts helped bring in a hefty result to support its community members.
"The results at the end of the month have such a great impact on so many individuals' lives," said Bill Raker, US Federal Credit Union president/CEO. "It certainly proves the apparent generosity and participation of both US Federal's employees and its members."
Minnesota FoodShare helps feed families in need and educates the public about the state of hunger in Minnesota.
