LAS VEGAS — Nevada Federal's Build Your Bucks Savings Challenge increased the credit union's youth account portfolio over $18,700 and added 77 new youth accounts during the four week youth account promotion.

The savings challenge ran for the duration of National Financial Literacy Month and ended at the end of Credit Union Youth Week in April. Five winners were awarded an iPod(R) Shuffle for saving for their future goals.

"Our goal was two-fold for creating the Build Your Bucks Savings Challenge. One was to encourage parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to teach the children in their lives the importance of setting savings goals now versus later," said Rosi Chicas, community outreach manager. "The other was to show our youth account holders that saving money does pay off."
