MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Battling financial illiteracy is a difficult challenge, but one that credit unions have decided is worth fighting.
The over $500 million Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union has added a new staffer to try and increase financial literacy among members.
Dario Ungredda has been named housing education counselor at the credit union. The housing boom has unfortunately been overshadowed by sad cases of predatory lending, especially affecting low-income Americans. Ungredda will be responsible for doing one-on-one counseling with prospective homeowners as well as seminars regarding housing issues and financial literacy education.
