WASHINGTON — Elizabeth A. Duke, a former chair of the American Bankers Association, has been nominated to a spot on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

“Betsy's nomination to the Fed Board of Governors is wonderful news. She learned banking from the ground up. Her many years as a bank CEO and her involvement in ABA over the past decade have given Betsy a first-hand understanding of the challenges facing the financial services industry,” ABA President/CEO Ed Yingling commented.

Duke would fill the unexpired term of Susan Schmidt Bies who resigned for personal reasons. The 14-year term began Feb. 1, 1998.
