WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The public face of Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union will continue to be NFL New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees.
Brees, a PEFCU member since his freshman year at Purdue in 1997, has been its spokesperson since 2001 and has recently renewed a three-year contract with the credit union.
"We're excited to continue our relationship with Drew. He's not just a satisfied member, he's also the embodiment of PEFCU's philosophy, 'people helping people,'" said PEFCU CEO Bill Connors. "Our shared commitment to giving back to the community provides excellent opportunities for local youth programs and charitable organizations." Brees was an All-American quarterback and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist for Purdue University. The former San Diego Charger currently quarterbacks the New Orleans Saints. As spokesperson for PEFCU, Brees will continue to participate in ongoing PEFCU initiatives including summer youth programs and sports camps. As part of their combined efforts to give back to the community, PEFCU will host the 1st Annual Brees Dream Foundation Golf Outing.

The event, to be held on Friday, June 22 at the Birck Boilermaker Complex, will bring past Purdue Football greats to Lafayette for an exciting day of golf that will help raise funds for area needs. Every penny raised during the all-day charity event will benefit the Riley Hospital for Children through the Credit Unions for Kids program and Purdue University's National Youth Sports Program–a four-week sports enrichment camp for local children ages 10-16 who live at or below poverty.
In 2006 the camp boasted a participant roster of more than 400 local children, delivering a summer program of sports, fitness, health/nutrition instruction and computers/writing.
Established in 2003 by Brees and his wife Brittany, The Brees Dream Foundation helps in the fight to cure cancer, improve the quality of life for cancer patients, and promote the progress, success and education of youth through scholarship programs. "When Drew suggested our yearly Community Business Partner Golf Outing could do more, we agreed," Connors said. "Now as a charity golf event, we can offer a unique sports event to participants, fans and sponsors and make a difference for people in need right here at home."
