ARLINGTON, Va. — NASCUS leadership held its Thirdly Business Meeting May 10 and 11 in Fort Lauderdale to discuss big issues for the state system.

The NASCUS Board of Directors and Credit Union Executive Council had planned to continue discussion on current and emerging issues and NASCUS strategic priorities and projects, including the unrelated business income tax, proposed rules, and NASCUS governance issues.

The NASCUS leadership will also address the modest means data collection effort, according to a spokesperson. She added, "We are unsure just yet when the data will be available; the statistician is now starting to look at the numbers as the data gathering stage nears completion."

"NASCUS looks forward to the upcoming meetings of our association's leadership," NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney said leading up to the meeting that took place after press time. "The in-person meetings allow us to have productive discussion on the important issues facing the credit union system and our organization. The work and commitment of volunteer leadership are integral to NASCUS' progress towards its goals and priorities."

The next leadership meetings will be Aug. 7 in Fort Lauderdale prior to the 2007 State System Summit, August 9-11, 2007.
