WASHINGTON — In addition to lobbying for credit unions, CUNA and NAFCU each have one of the top lobbyists on Capital Hill, according to The Hill.
The Hill's naming of its picks for the top lobbyists is almost as much a rite of spring as the cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Dan Berger and CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica are both veterans to the list and this year was no exception. The decisions are made based on discussions with members of Congress, aides, and other lobbyists, according to the paper.
The May 3 issue of The Hill said of Berger, "The former banking lobbyist is credit unions' not-so-secret weapon." On Mica, the paper said he "will push a relaxation of credit union regulations."
However, the credit union groups cannot let their guard down on the Hill. America's Community Bankers Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack also made the list, as did American Bankers Association President Ed Yingling.
