BETHPAGE, N. Y. — The $2.4 billion Bethpage Federal Credit Union will celebrate its heritage as credit union linked to the U.S. aeronautic industry when it sponsors an air show featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds on Memorial Day weekend.
The CU is also using the event to launch an air show themed credit card, the first after having sold its card portfolio to the CU Card Association, the card portfolio purchasing subsidiary of the $3.8 billion Wescom Credit Union earlier this year.
Bethpage began its life as the Grumman Aerospace Employee Credit Union in 1941.

In addition to the air show, the CU is holding a gala for local VIPs and air show participants at Mitchel Field, which is known locally as the Cradle of Aviation and will host Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles Lindbergh. This month is the 80th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh' solo flight across the Atlantic, the CU noted.
The new card will be available in both a Classic and Platinum program, will offer rewards and the CU will automatically enroll its cardholders in the new design unless they opt out, the CU said.
