JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — John Schooler is back in the credit union fold.

The former president of Fiserv's USERS credit union core processing subsidiary is back in the credit union space as senior vice president and general manager of the Real Time Systems Group of Fidelity National Information Systems.

Schooler left Valley Forge, Pa.-based USERS late last year. Details about his departure were scarce. He takes over for Santo Cannone at Real Time Systems. The move was announced at the Misers Users Group meeting last week.

Schooler briefly worked for software firm Akcelerant, Malvern, Pa., after leaving USERS.

Fidelity came barging on the credit union scene in 2004 when it acquired Aurum Technology. It brought Fidelity a solid business for both large and small credit unions given that Aurum had acquired Computer Consultants Corp prior to being bought by Fidelity. Computer Consultants served about 600 small credit unions at the time of the deal. Fidelity offers the former Aurum's Miser product to large CUs. Currently 18 CUs are on the system.

"Commercial lending and business processing as a robust component of the core system, rather than a standalone system or using two systems, is a key differentiator for Miser compared with most of the vendor competition in the credit union market. While not right for every credit union, it is clear that many, if not a majority will need to expand into business products in order to stimulate growth and maintain profitability over the next few years. Miser's retail offering is equally strong," said Schooler.
