PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Given recent localized flooding, NortheastCredit Union has launched the Relief Loan Program–Neighbors HelpingNeighbors.

The program is designed to help all homeowners and renters inthe community impacted by the floods of spring 2007 get back ontheir feet by helping them make necessary purchases andrepairs.

“In many cases, our neighbors did not have flood insurance thatwill cover all of the damages sustained by the recent stormsurges,” said Peter Kavalauskas, president/CEO of NECU. “Byreacting quickly, we are offering the Relief Loan Program toprovide everyone in the community with another financial optionwhile they may be waiting for government programs, privateinsurance or similar funding to rebuild their homes and theirlives. We are pleased to offer this type of service to all of thepeople who need it. This type of service is what credit unions areall about–'people helping people.'”
