WASHINGTON — Brian Tate has joined CUNA as director of state advocacy.

In his new role, he will manage relationships with state governmental associations like the National Conference of State Legislatures. He will report to CUNA State Government Affairs Vice President Chris Johnson. Tate previously served as government affairs manager for the Maryland & D.C. Credit Union Association, as well as on the legislative staffs of Congressman Max Sandlin (D-Texas) and Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.). He also interned in the Office of the First Lady under Hillary Clinton.

Tate holds a law degree from the Howard University School of Law and a master's degree in political management from The George Washington University.
