HIGHSTOWN, N.J. — The New Jersey Credit Union League said Thursday it has formed a five-member search committee headed by Cindy Rein-Zima, president/CEO of Hamilton Horizons FCU, to begin recruitmen to find the replacement for fired CEO Bob Walls.

In a brief release, NJCUL Chairman Rina Pantano said the committee "represents credit unions of varying sizes and types from across the state" and is dedicated "to find the right person" to lead the trade group in the future. It was unclear whether the league would be hiring an outside firm to assist in the search.

Wall's ouster April 23 has stirred some dissent among some smaller CU and chapter leaders who in defending Walls performance complain about the reasons behind the dismissal and detailed communication beyond brief letters sent to the 227 CEOs across the state.

The letters simply state that Walls was "no longer employed" at the league and the climate for "change" were signed by Pantano, who also is president/CEO of NJ Gateway FCU of Monmouth Junction.

"I can't imagine what happened and I've received no responses after writing and making several calls to members of the board," commented Virginia Williams, president of the Jersey Shore Chapter and CEO of Jersey Shore FCU of Northfield.

Beside Rein-Zima, other members of the search committee include; vice chairman Issa Stephens, president/CEO of First Financial FCU, Tom's River; Eddie Daniel, Tri-Linc FCU, Bound Brook; Steven Schlundt of Atlantic City Fireman's FCU; and Robert Steeves Essex County Teachers FCU, Bloomfield.
