WASHINGTON — Victims of the Virginia Tech shooting have received a $10,000 donation from the National Credit Union Foundation. The Foundation made the donation to the fund established by the $190 million Freedom First Federal Credit Union for some of the victims of the shooting at Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech students, staff and employees are in the credit union's field of membership.

"Several victims of this tragedy were credit union members, as are many survivors," noted NCUF Deputy Director Steve Bosack. "Words can't express the grief we feel for these students and their families, but we hope that donations from the credit union community will help them begin the healing process."

Freedom First FCU intends to donate all proceeds to Virginia Tech's new Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, the Foundation said. The fund will be used to cover expenses including but not limited to grief counseling, memorials, communication expenses, comfort expenses, and incidental needs.
