ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Family First Federal Credit Union has helped build the confidence of some area residents.

Recently Family First FCU CEO Christine Peters along with Penfield Branch Manager Jennifer Habecker and Assistant Branch Manager Anna Burns' daughter Jasmyn, donated 8-10 inches of their hair to Locks of Love and Beautiful Lengths.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children 18 and younger with medical hair loss.

Beautiful Lengths is a campaign that encourages people to donate their hair to create real-hair wigs for women who've lost their hair due to cancer. The generous donations were made at the Essentials Day Spa and Salon on Penfield Road in Rochester.

"I heard about these organizations through news stories, and decided I would like to join this effort," said Peters. "As my hair grew, staff started commenting on the longer style and I saw the opportunity to recruit additional donors. This cause goes hand in hand with our credit union philosophy of "people helping people."
