PHOENIX, Ariz. — Desert Schools Federal Credit Union has hit the $1 billion mark for total first mortgages serviced and it shows no sign of slowing down. According to Desert Schools FCU Senior Vice President Robin O'Rorke, the credit union is servicing over 7,000 loans.

"It was September of 1999, when we created our first mortgage servicing department. Since then, we have expanded our product offerings significantly to over 270 products–all of which require servicing," said O'Rorke. The $3 billion credit union is one of America's top 10 credit union mortgage lenders and the largest credit union in Arizona.

Designed to reflect the needs of a diverse Phoenix marketplace, product offerings include terms up to 40 years, a variety of interest-only options, up to 100% financing and programs for members with less than perfect credit. O'Rorke added, "We are also careful to offer mortgage products with no pre-payment penalty fees and we do not offer negative amortization loans that often have harmful effects on a borrower's financial well-being."
