RALEIGH, N.C. — To help build a national memorial to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., State Employees' Credit Union recently donated $100,000 to the African-American Credit Union Coalition to help with the effort.

The memorial's design will encompass the fundamental themes of King's life and work, justice, democracy, hope and love. Construction is expected to be complete in 2008.

"As our membership cooperative has always been focused on equal and fair treatment, we believe in honoring a man who epitomized the equal treatment of all Americans," said Jim Blaine, president/CEO. "We encourage other credit unions to support this initiative as well."
