KENSINGTON, Md. — Two members of the $319 million Lafayette Federal Credit Union who opposed the credit union's 2006 bid to change its charter to that of a mutual bank have been recognized as candidates and placed on the CU's ballot.
Louis Emory is a senior counsel at the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. and has been a credit union member since 2005, according to the CU's Web site. Robert Navin is a senior advisor at USAID and has been a credit union member since 1979.
The two are running against three incumbents. John Farmakides is managing director of Havenwood Capital Markets and has been a Lafayette member since 1994. Rodrigo Leiva is membership services director with the Latino Federation and became a Lafayette member in 2006 as did Darryl Pounds, President of Pounds Properties.
Of the three incumbents, only Farmakides was on the board at the time of the charter conversion vote.
