MADISON, Wis. — Attendees at the recently held CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council Annual Conference raised a record-breaking $11,000 for the National Credit Union Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund.
Conference attendees participated in the third annual silent and live auction by bidding on 68 items, all of which were donated by attendees themselves. Items ranged from jewelry and sports memorabilia to electronics and a free conference registration.
Bob Schumacher, CEO of Snohomish County PUD Credit Union and fromer NCUF board member, praised this year's event. "What was exciting is that they were doing this for the National Credit Union Foundation's Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund. The amount raised was amazing and wonderfully appropriate for a very worthy cause," said Schumacher. "It is nice to know that even though the disaster occurred some time ago, the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council had the foresight to donate funds for ongoing relief."

"This year marked our third auction and we're extremely pleased to have grown the event every year," said Weber. "Thanks to the amazing generosity of members, we've raised more than $23,000 to date for the NCUF. We look forward to adding to that amount for years to come, including another record-breaking total at next year's conference."
