BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Scott Credit Union has recently opened the doors to a new high-tech facility in West Belleville.
Designed to create a unique banking experience, the state-of-the-art branch features high-tech banking stations instead of a traditional teller line, self-help personal storage boxes instead of the old-fashioned safe deposit boxes, a self-service coin counting machine, and an instant issue system that allows members to get their debit card right on the spot. "This location really offers the best of everything," said Scott Credit Union President Frank Padak. "We have the latest in technology, plus we have a great staff that is ready to help members with all of their banking needs." The new 3,600-square-foot branch also features four drive-up lanes with a commercial lane, a night depository, and a 24-hour drive-up ATM. At the new teller stations, members of the credit union are greeted by a teller on the television monitor. The member can talk with the teller through the speaker or through a telephone handset for more privacy. Members then send their paperwork through a pneumatic tube and talk with the teller like when they are in the drive-up. Transactions at the new stations are expected to be more efficient.
"The tellers will be using an express delivery system that dispenses cash to them when the member is receiving cash back," Padak noted. "This will really speed up the transactions and give the member the quick and convenient service they want."

The credit union plans to have extra staff on hand at the new branch to help members get comfortable with the new way of doing their banking.
"We're confident that members will find this new experience to be positive and convenient," Padak said. "Plus, our staff will be available to provide our members with the exceptional service that they have come to expect from us. Our goal is to help our members so they get the most out of all of the new technology."
The new self-help personal storage boxes will provide members with two keys to allow them to access their box at any time when the lobby is open without waiting for assistance. In a further display of its commitment to the community, the credit union donated $1,000 to Belleville West High School to support its war memorial honoring the school's graduates who have lost their lives while serving our country.
Scott CU also generously provided a $5,000 donation to Hubert Hoosman, president of Vantage Credit Union in St. Louis, to support the campaign to build a monument honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The monument will be the first erected to honor an African American and to honor a citizen who was not a U.S. President nor associated with any U.S. conflict.
"After seeing Hubert talk about this project recently, we really wanted to support this effort," Padak said. "It is really something that will have an impact on the lives of people for years to come."
