The Tri-County Chapter of the California Credit Union League, Riverside, Calif., was recognized by the league with a “Platinum Chapter Achievement Award” for outstanding achievement in six categories. The six categories evaluated for the award include: PAC fundraising; Richard Myles Johnson Foundation fundraising; Shapiro Group Outreach; Community Service/Political Advocacy; and Member Participation. The Tri-County Chapter exceeded its fundraising goals by 52% and 39% in the two categories respectively. It met all its other goals. There are 29 credit unions involved in the chapter. First Credit Union, Chandler, Ariz., has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in Phoenix” by the Phoenix Business Journal for 2006. Once the CU was nominated for this award, employees had to complete a survey expressing their views of the CU and what it is like to be employed there. The award also took into consideration the company’s employee benefits such as, medical, dental, 401K and tuition reimbursement. It was ranked number 18 out of 30 companies in the medium size company category. Navy Federal Credit Union, Camden County, Ga., recently had its St. Marys branch chosen as “Best Financial Institution” in the Readers Choice Awards sponsored by the Tribune & Georgian newspaper for the 12th year. Since opening in 1995, the St. Marys branch has been recognized by the readers’ poll for superb customer service and the active role it plays in the community. Member Service Representative Kathy Manning was selected as Best Teller and the branch also won in the category of Best Customer Service.
