Cabrillo Credit Union, San Diego, and its partners, Sharp Credit Union and Carlsbad Credit Union, held their 9th Annual Member Appreciation Luncheon recently to honor credit union member for their service and dedication to the credit union. Cabrillo CU honored United States Border Patrol Agents Leo Ayala and Imelda Esquivel with awards consisting of gold, silver and bronze United States Border Patrol coins. Sharp CU honored Zo? Gardener for her service on the board and supervisory committee and Lisa Rodriguez for her instrumental role in the payroll department at the CU. Carlsbad CU honored former credit union board member and Carlsbad City Police Officer Bill Rowland with an award for his 21 years of exemplary service to the credit union. Capital Credit Union, Kimberly, Wis., was recently honored with the Founding Sponsor Award by Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, a nonprofit volunteer-based organization that forms partnerships to rebuild and repair homes of those in need in the Fox Valley area. Alan Zierler, president/CEO of Capital, accepted the award from Rebuilding Together's Executive Director Renee Waterman as part of Rebuilding Together's inaugural "Annual Report to the Community". Capital CU continues to be a strong financial supporter of Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, and Capital members and employees also volunteer their time to work during RTFV's annual Project Day each May. Three Colorado credit unions received 1st place honors by the Credit Union Association of Colorado, Arvada, Colo., in the 2006 statewide Dora Maxwell and Louise Herring awards. Another two credits unions received 2nd place honors and two received honorable mentions. First place winning entries advanced to the national competition where they competed with other projects from credit unions in the same assets category. For the Dora Maxwell Awards, the national honorable mention winner was Elevations Credit Union, $500 million+ asset category; 1st place state winners were: Elevations Credit Union, $500 million+ asset category and St. Vrain Valley Credit Union, $50-$100 million asset category; 2nd place state winners were: Colorado State Employees Credit Union, $500 million+ asset category and Power Credit Union, $50-$100 million asset category; honorable mention state winners were: Space Age Federal Credit Union and SunWest Educational Credit Union. The first place state winner for the Louise Herring award was Horizons North Credit Union in the less than $100 million asset category.
