WASHINGTON — Carol Schillios won the Herb Wegner Individual Achievement Award for her work in providing affordable credit, education and health care to some of the poorest people in the world. Here she is presented with a $5,000 check from the National Credit Union Foundation by Mary Cunningham (right) to help her do even more good work. WASHINGTON — Prospera Credit Union CEO Ken Eiden accepted the Wegner Award for Outstanding Program for the CU's partnership with Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin and Financial Information Service Center. The program offers short-term payday alternative loans.

WASHINGTON — Barry Jolette, president/CEO of San Mateo Credit Union, was this year's Lifetime Achievement winner for the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. Jolette joked about how he wasn't really looking to get into the credit union industry, but as a young man married with two kids, he needed a job. His first job was with NCUA as an examiner. Jolette stressed the importance of family in his life.
