COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Defense Department has designated Feb. 25 through March 4, 2007 as Military Saves Week to encourage service members and their families to establish saving goals and set money aside for emergencies and other needs.
In support of this effort Security Service Federal Credit Union is asking military members and their families to join Military Saves as part of Operation Financial Fitness.
"At Security Service Federal Credit Union we realize the growing need for increased awareness of saving money and reducing debt to build wealth in today's world," said SSFCU Senior Vice President and Spokesman John Worthington. "Although saving money and alleviating debt requires dedication, sacrifice, and patience, Operation Financial Fitness and the Military Saves campaign can help ease that process. These model programs can change lives, through the creation of economic opportunity, for all who participate."

America Saves Week's primary goal is to encourage financial action through commitments to save, invest, and build wealth. Military Saves provides the necessary tools to help accomplish that financial mission. Participants, ranging from veterans to stay-at-home moms, will receive helpful financial tips and the much needed encouragement to continue savings habits.
Members can enroll in the Military Saves program at any Security Service FCU Service Center.
Military Saves is part of the nationwide campaign, America Saves, and is sponsored by Consumer Federation of America, the Department of Defense, the NASD Investor Education Foundation, and a nationwide network of Defense Credit Unions and Military Banks.
Part of the DOD Financial Readiness Campaign, Military Saves encourages leaders to focus attention on encouraging their troops to get out of debt and save money.
