BISMARCK, N.D. — Along with state legislators and congressmen, the governors of North and South Dakota, John Hoeven and M. Michael Rounds, are on the VIP guest list for the inaugural annual meeting of the Mid-America Credit Union Association here June 6-8, it was announced last week.

Mid-America CUA is the new trade group combining the North and South Dakota Credit Union Leagues, which late last year culminated long-running negotiations to create a combined association serving CUs in the two states (see full story on next page).

Technically, the two leagues must each hold one final business session, which will occur on June 8 followed by the first formal business meeting of MACUA, said officials.

Meanwhile, CU managers across the two states have expressed positive support for the new trade group.

"I've seen all kinds of e-mails describing the new services that are being offered on compliance and human resource areas that were not available at the old South Dakota League," said one CEO who asked not to be identified.
