RALEIGH, N.C. — State Employees' Credit Union is holding amirror up to members and they like what they see–owners.

The credit union has added full-length mirrors displaying themessage “Meet SECU's Owners–You're Looking Good!” in its branchlobbies.

The 5' x 7' mirrors are being installed in SECU branches during2007. Faced with the challenge of describing the qualities thatmake nonprofit cooperatives unique, the concept is designed todemonstrate the CU difference by helping members see themselves ina different way–as owners of a nonprofit cooperative. “Making suremembers understand they own State Employees' Credit Union is vitalto the continued success of our credit union,” said SECUPresident/CEO Jim Blaine. “Sometimes we have to think outside ofthe box to deliver that message. Branch mirrors are an eye-catchingway to force members to look at themselves as owners. After all,they are the true reflection of what makes our credit unionunique–there really is a difference!”
