SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Redwood Credit Union has partnered with the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce and Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport to help Horizon Air's commercial airline service from Sonoma County take off.
The joint effort results in a new program, which will allow local businesses to pledge travel dollars to the new service scheduled to begin in March 2007.
As part of the Santa Rosa Chamber's $500,000 Advance Ticket Purchase Program, the pledge drive will include a co-branded RCU VISA debit card that business members can use to purchase air travel with Horizon.

Here is how it works. Local businesses open a no-fee RCU dividend-bearing checking account with a $1,000 minimum to be used toward airline ticket purchases. RCU then issues exclusive custom debit cards to access the deposited funds for the purpose of purchasing tickets on Horizon Air.
"The introduction of Horizon Air service to and from the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport will have tremendous benefits for local business travelers, and Redwood Credit Union is honored to be the official pledge site in support of the Advance Ticket Purchase Program," said RCU Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Anne Benjamin. "Because Sonoma County has been without commercial airline service for a number of years, there is certainly pent-up demand that we hope this program will help relieve."
Horizon will initially be offering two daily round-trip flights to Los Angeles and one daily round-trip flight to Seattle from Sonoma County.
