KENSINGTON, Md. — One conflict that could end in another credit union bylaw dispute has been quietly moving along.

Members of the $320 million Lafayette Federal Credit Union, who are seeking a special meeting at which some or all of the credit union's board could be recalled, have collected more than enough signatures on a petition calling for a meeting, but are still collecting them in order to provide additional signatures in case some are challenged.

A source familiar with the effort said that the members had collected more than 750 signatures as of January 21, but had held off delivering the petition to collect still more.

Once the petition is delivered and accepted the CU will have 30 days, according to the CU's bylaws, in which it has to call the special meeting.
