VISTA, Calif. — Bluepoint Solutions is offering a solution to credit unions affected by Symitar's sunsetting of its OTG document management solution.

The document management technology specialist (www.bluepointsolutions.com) says its solution transfers and "cleans" member credit union data in segments and implements best practices while keeping the existing OTG system running in view-only mode instead of shutting it down at once.

The best practices include a "data normalization" procedure that cleans member-indexed information so it can be retrieved more efficiently by credit union staff. Bluepoint says it then uses its FASTdocs technology to scan and store credit union documents in a logically "foldered" hierarchy that is centered on the member, improving front-end member service.

The seven-step process, which can be done remotely, also includes training and then concludes with shutting down the legacy OTG system and enabling the CU to create a paperless environment that includes teller receipts and Check 21 capabilities, according to Bluepoint Solutions.

"This new conversion process is very timely because many of today's credit unions are on their second- and third-generation imaging systems, looking for something new–and painless," says Bluepoint COO Richard Drew.

E Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge, La., was the first to use the process, the company says, successfully converting 80 GB of data (or three million objects) in seven weeks as it converted the optical system before moving on to the teller capture system.
