DALLAS — For the first time in its history, the $175 million City Credit Union will have a female president/CEO, Sharon Moore. Moore, who has been serving as interim president since July, started with City CU two-and-a-half years ago as senior vice president. She succeeds Michael Kelly, who resigned. Moore previously had been handling auditing for the CU under her own firm from 1991-2004. Moore spent 10 years as an examiner for the Texas Credit Union Department where she was a supervisor handling CUs throughout the state. Huey May, chairman of City CU, praised Moore's appointment as an individual who "is imminently qualified to lead our organization." Regarding May, a spokeswoman noted that, "this is another important year for us since this is the first time we have had an African-American serving us as our chairman."
