KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mazuma Credit Union said thanks a million to its members by delivering a bonus dividend in excess of $1 million. Members in good standing received a 5% bonus on the dividends they earned on deposit accounts in 2006, and a 5% rebate on the interest they paid on loans in 2006.
“I had a member contact me today to say thanks,” said President Rob Givens in explaining member reaction. “Her hot water heater had recently gone out, and this bonus dividend came just at the right time.”
Mazuma CU designed a promotion around the bonus dividend to ensure that its members understood the dividend was possible because of their ownership of the credit union and use of its services.
Established in 1948, the $300 million Mazuma Credit Union serves over 50,000 members. It is open to membership for those living or working in Jackson County, Mo. and select zip codes in the Kansas City Northland area.
