ONTARIO, Calif. — Shoppers seeking last minute holiday gifts have given CO-OP Financial Services its biggest transaction day ever.

The parent cooperative of the credit union-owned CO-OP Network, broke its one-day transaction record on Dec. 23, when it processed more than five million transactions. The previous record came on Christmas Eve 2005 when the network processed 4.5 million transactions. "Our staff and our industry put a great deal of effort into year-end planning," said CO-OP CEO Stan Hollen. "Volumes tend to peak with significant compression into very short time windows. I'm gratified that our planning paid off with record volume and flawless performance.

"We've invested in dual-site continuous processing to insure our credit union members are always served. This investment paid off in 2006 when our systems were continuously available the entire year with no planned or unplanned system outages. And I expect 2007 to be even more successful as we augment our electronic payment options for CO-OP's credit union membership."
