LA HABRA, Calif. — For American First Credit Union, every year is an opportunity to give back to the community and 2006 was no exception.
The credit union and its employees and business partners raised more than $30,000 for local charities. Charity efforts included: $10,000 for college scholarships; $10,000 donation for Children's Hospital Los Angeles; $3,000 raised at Silent Auction for American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Event; and $8,000 raised by AFCU's Relay for Life Team.
In addition, AFCU continues its commitment to serving people of modest means through a number of community outreach efforts, such as the "Bank at School" Program to provide money management skills to low-income children; regular visits to distribute food at a local soup kitchen; participation in Read Across America Day; bilingual real estate and financial management seminars; and Angel Tree gift donations for needy children.
