ST. LOUIS — The African-American Credit Union Coalition's annual networking reception will feature Harry Johnson, president/CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation as the keynote speaker. The Feb. 26 reception will take place at the Washington Hilton and coincides with CUNA's 2007 Governmental Affairs Conference to be held Feb. 25-28. The foundation is raising funds to erect a national monument to honor King's legacy.

So far, national fundraising efforts have brought in more than $65 million toward the foundation's $100 million goal. CUES, $469 million Vantage Credit Union and the World Council of Credit Unions have collectively donated $65,000. The AACUC has set a $2 million goal for the entire movement.

AACUC was founded in 1999 and has more than 300 members.
