LATHAM, N.Y. — The Rochester chapter of the New York State Credit Union League invited federal and local legislators to mingle with their credit union constituents during a Dec. 11 reception at a local country club. Over 50 credit union representatives from 18 credit unions spoke informally with the lawmakers. "Rochester's credit unions are very actively involved in the legislative process and were even more involved during the election," The Summit Federal Credit Union President/CEO Michael Vadala commented. "We worked on behalf of our four incumbent Congressional Representatives, all of whom are big credit union supporters and all of whom won. Three of them won narrow elections." Legislators attending the event included Congressman Randy Kuhl (R), State Senators James S. Alesi (R) and Joseph E. Robach (R), and State Assemblymen Joseph A. Errigo (R), David R. Koon (D) and Bill Reilich (R). Additionally, aides from the offices of Senators Hillary Clinton (D) and Chuck Schumer (D) attended the event.

"Credit unions are absolutely critical to the financial health of our region," Kuhl said. "It's important that credit union members interact with their political representatives and talk about what we can do to keep credit unions strong and viable in the future."

Vadala added, "Congressman Kuhl's attendance at this event and his comments show his appreciation and his continued support for credit unions."
