ARLINGTON, Va. — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union Chairman Dave Gilbert, who serves as NAFCU's Region II director, has hit his term limit for the NAFCU board and three other seats are up for election as well. Gilbert is leaving the NAFCU board after serving three, three-year terms there; he is the only credit union volunteer serving on NAFCU's board, where he is currently board secretary. "I think with Dave Gilbert's seat coming open there is not going to be an incumbent on the official ballot so hopefully there will be a lot of interest in the Region II seat," NAFCU Director of Planning, Programming, and Special Projects Joe Boyle said. He added that he is not sure if any volunteers will be running for any of the open seats. Other seats that are open, but have incumbents running for each, include the at-large seats occupied by Members 1st FCU (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) CEO Bob Marquette and SRP FCU (North Augusta, S.C.) CEO Ed Templeton, and the Region V seat currently occupied by Nevada FCU CEO Brad Beal.

The first notable date in the process is Jan. 11, Boyle said, when all at-large applications must be submitted. The Nominating Committee will then select the at-large slate on Jan. 18. Those who do not make the official slate can still get on the ballot by garnering support from at least five credit unions.

To get on the nomination ballot for the Region II and V seats, credit union chief executives or volunteers need to get signatures from at least three credit unions in their region.
